Personality Type & Relationships

Have you ever went on a date and talked about each other’s MBTI® personality preferences? I recently ran across this interesting article in ELLE magazine, titled: “Could a 50-Year-Old Personality Test be the Dating Shortcut You’re Missing? Forget Tinder and Hinge, Maybe What You Really Need is Good Old Myers-Briggs.” In the article, the author actually discusses how she applied personality type to her relationships. Once, she actually met a guy who seemed perfect, but decided to hit the road once she learned his Myers-Briggs® type!

This is definitely a fun read and sheds light on the fact that the Myers-Briggs assessment shouldn’t be used to eliminate anyone. However, it should used to provide a jumping-off point for communication. Jennifer Overbo, CPP’s director of MBTI product strategy, says, “You owe it to yourself as an individual to expect more—and to explore more. You never know what you might miss if you’re limiting yourself at the start.” I would have to agree! Don’t close the door too quickly because you might be missing out on true love.
